Great new student card

I just got my enw credit card.
The brand new mtvU VISA citicard!

Now, what benefits do I get?
5 points per dollar at
Movie Theatres
Restaurants
Video Stores
Book stores

And 1 point on all other dollars.

Now I can also get 1500-4000 a year for good grades, free points are always good.

Now this all comes together when I realize that 'Hey, I can get 100 points=1 dollar of student loan repayment... oooOoo me likie. Even better if I decide to get plane tickets I hear.

So here's my evil plan.

When out with friends pick up the check, have them pay me cash on the spot,. I then deposit and pay that night, making their grace period my best friend. I then end up with free points out the wazoo while never carrying a balance. Everyone wins!(Except citi, but they make enough on my other card).

Good times... good times...

My current 'net worth'

Ugly, huh?

Well, my father claims he will cover loans once I graduate, and the credit card he uses and pays(To build my credit).
So I'm not in too bad. I'd like to open an ING to get the $25 bonus, and a shareholder account, as well as I plan on switching to Citibank for checking and savings(Better APY, and better perks for debit)

I'm not in too bad of shape, but it will probably get worse, and as it does I hope to use what I learn to minimize the pain. I plan to use and abuse the Thank You points to pay off loans, as well as get some work on the side once I go back to school. I hope to see that total number go up and not plummet.

Lots to talk about

I finally got internet banker for my local bank.

Needless to say I learned that checking your balance at another banks ATM costs $2.25. Even worse I check it a lot(Obsessive I guess). SO the moral of the story is $30=A hard lesson in reading fine print.

In other news, I have a 5k tuition bill because none of my financial aid has been given because my parents can't figure out who is going to claim me and if they are separated, married filing separating or anything. So I'm losing a lot of grants/loans because of them. It doesn't help that my mother spends approx 90% of the time in NY, but is a MD citizen.
Net Loss: Currently a lot

And I broke $1,000 for the first time in my life, my wants? To open a Citibank savings and checking and make their Thank You Program give me free money to pay loans. Only my father is borrowing 500-800 to pay for a new(used) car.

Did I say I was under the thumb? I'm getting hit with a sledgehammer. Stay tuned to watch my financial boat not only sink, but be obliterated in the process!

Welcome!

I am known as GreenAeon... why that?

Think about it.

Green = Money
Aeon = Eternal
Eternal Money!

With a handle like that how can I possibly fail with money.

Either way, I've recently become interested in finance once I got my first full time internship. I've seen both my parents and my sister destroy their credit rating and have $0! in the bank. I want to avoid their pitfalls. Trust me I will talk about this in length in the future.

I wanted to start this to help myself, because I'm a greedy bastard, but also because there were few if any blogs I could find for the person who is still dependent on their parents. Most bloggers are on their own, and even the 'young' ones are finishing college.

I am going into my second year as a Computer Science major and am 19 years old. Right now in every one of my accounts I have a total of $400. I have $1000 of credit card debt my father charged and is paying off, making me his credit bitch(-_-)
I can't wait to get started to offer insight, advice, and hopefully avoid pitfalls for all of us (real)Young PF Bloggers!
